MC2E – Meta-Cloud Computing Environment

The Meta Cloud Computing Environment (MC2E) project is a Russian-Chinese project dedicated to the study of methods and means of building an information and computing environment for scientific computational experiments, based on the federal principle of management. Such a federation implies a number of geographycally scattered computer systems of different types (e.g. HPC clusters, traditional data centers etc.) serving common stream of users tasks. The paper describes the main advantages of the federative approach, briefly summarises the MC2E architecture and highlights some mathematical problems arised.
