Content-Based Feature Extraction: Image Transforms
Rik Kamal Kumar Das · 2020
Image transforms are a special way of describing image contents in terms of unitary matrices. It helps in expansion of an image in the form of a discrete set of basis arrays known as basis images . Transforming an image provides a set of basis vectors for the vector space. This chapter discusses the process of feature extraction from image data using image transforms. Different transform techniques are implemented for designing feature descriptors, and the techniques are demonstrated using MATLAB codes. Finally, each of the extracted features using different techniques are evaluated against each other using diverse classification metrics and are tested for statistical significance of contribution in augmenting classification performances.
