DiLAD: A Distributed Layout Testing Framework for Android Applications

Peng Lü, Cheng‐Zen Yang, Zhi-Jun You · 2020

To develop Android apps, programmers need to consider the serious fragmentation problem in GUI layout design for Android devices with various screen specifications. To mitigate the lengthy inspecting time of detecting layout anomalies, layout anomaly detection tools have been proposed. However, these tools still need considerable detection time because of their sequential testing nature. In this study, a distributed layout testing framework called DiLAD is proposed to improve the testing performance of layout anomaly detection. In DiLAD, the detection tasks are distributed to a group of testing slaves. To study the effectiveness of DiLAD, we have conducted empirical experiments with real applications. The results show that DiLAD can effectively improve the testing performance.
