Routing in IoT using MQTT Protocol

Rahul Johari, Shubhi Bansal, Kanika Gupta · 2020

Internet of Things (IoT) is the tool by which we can transform the existing devices to smart and intelligent as they can themselves take decision through communication. IoT is a heterogeneous technique that consists of not only hardware but also software. Routing lies at the heart of communication for IoT based systems for effective transmission and end to end delivery of data. It has a huge impact on the dissipation of energy. Various routing protocols have been put forward for the sensor-based networks. Routing helps nodes to find out the best possible path, prevent data redundancy, ensures reliability and delivery of data packets. MQTT is the best push routing protocol as it is lightweight and less power consuming. In this research, the MQTT protocol has been used to demonstrate effective communication between client and server. The simulation has been done in JAVA programming language using ECLIPSE IDE. The study has yielded positive results as it displays the data for temperature and pressure on inputting the number of days.
