Crowdsourced Software Engineering (CSE) evolved from outsourcing and open source development. It has created a fundamental shift; there are now many open-call software minitasks that are advertised and performed through popular CSE platforms. For instance, TopCoder currently has more than 1.5 million registered designers, developers, and quality engineers; uTest has 400,000-plus testing specialists with diverse expertise to validate various aspects of digital quality.
