Emotion Analysis Tool to Support People with Down Syndrome

This paper investigates the use of automated emotional and behavioral analysis in people with Down's Syndrome. Therefore, this paper presents the development of tools that can aid psychologists, educators, and caregivers to learn more about people with Down's Syndrome, especially to their emotional biofeedback while executing rehabilitation activities. The proposed software employs Affedex framework to recognize expressions and emotions. Affedex developed at MIT Media Labs allows deeper insights into people with Down's Syndrome emotional state. Thus, is possible to quantify variables such as attention and engagement in real time. This paper explores new functionalities and devices to embed Affedex such the creation of emotional reports and providing connectivity for USB cameras and Camera Glasses.
