Investigation of the Suitability of Adaptive Extended Kalman Filter for Power System Harmonics Estimation
Pravir Yadav, Aritro Dey · 2020
This paper address the task of harmonic estimation of a power signal which is perturbed with Gaussian white noise. Along with the harmonic parameters, the fundamental frequency is also needs to be estimated which makes the estimation problem significantly nonlinear. Harmonic estimation problems often suffers from the incomplete knowledge of process noise covariance (Q). This paper investigates the estimation performance of two variants of Q-Adaptive Extended Kalman filter (QA-EKF) in simulation which have been rarely employed for harmonics estimation. Based on extensive simulation results the authors recommend a suitable variety of QA-EKF that demonstrates superior estimation performance over its competing estimation algorithms.
