Internet of Things (IoT) represents numerous Internet connected devices which have a large impact in our daily life. Along with its applications in every domain, security and privacy of such devices are also equally important. The threats on such systems are quite different than the existing wireless applications. Detection and prevention of such threats hence is inevitable However, application of traditional detection techniques on IoT is crucial in the sense that IoT architecture is different from other wireless networks. Resource constraints of the things (objects), specific protocol designed for integration between physical objects and Internet and different standards in IoT need to design algorithms which are specific for this paradigm. In the current study we represent a critical analysis of detection techniques addressing threats and the open challenges of these techniques.
