An intrusion of terrorists and trespassers has a major effect on the tranquillity of the nation. In recent times, borders depict the need for an efficient border surveillance system for the continuous and efficient monitoring and detecting the movements of intruders across the national borders. The patrolling at borders has a paucity of smart systems which aid efficient tracking of unapproved movements at the prohibited areas. Such concerns demand a need for a system that could detect a sound source and provide with the location coordinates and the state of the sound source(intruder) trying to trespass. The system comprises a far-field MEMS microphone array which helps in collecting sound source data and then sending it to a controller which then processes the data using Direction of arrival (DoA) estimation based on Time Difference of Arrival (TDoA) algorithm and hence localising the sound source (intruder) with a continuous sound classification technique to determine the motion state of the intruder.
