IoT is an innovative idea in technology and communication, and by a good data communication network the data receiving and sending is possible. There are few challenges faced by IoT as there are restricted hardware and communicational functioning ability as well as small scopes. As a result, essential limitations in the productivity of accumulation, broadcast, communication between the nodes, and, very importantly, degrading its routing performance are all caused by these inherent challenges. Seeing these situations, data aggregation (DA) and broadcast methods in these networks are planned more logically to handle the problem of reduced time and unsteady communications between the nodes. DA has a significant part in the IoT; thus, its important mechanism has been analyzed by a systematic and comprehensive study. So, this survey evaluates the DA approached methodically. Three main groups are categorized by the DA mechanism, which are clustering, central, and tree. And, each class contains a detailed comparison of essential techniques which brings a reference for more studies.
