The use of Object Oriented Programming (OOP) for automatic mesh generaton for Finite Element Analysis is presented in this paper. Aspects related to the geometry definition, meshing characteristics, triangular elements generation, data structures and implementation aspects are also discussed. Graphical examples generated by C++ code running on a PC are also included to illustrate the concepts and techniques presented in the text. 1. Introduction Understanding how different meshing strategies for a certain geometry affect its finite element analysis reliability is a cornerstone of computer aided engineering. In designing a practical algorithm for effective construction of the appropriate mesh representing the computational domain of interest, the following requirements are essential: . The algorithm should be able to handle arbitrary geometries in an automatic manner; . The input data should be reduced to the minimum geometric information representing the domain to be discretize...
