Nowadays Internet of Things (IoT) is facing many problems like privacy, security, and interoperability. To overcome these problems, blockchain technology is combined with IoT, which enhances its efficiency. This chapter provides an overview of the combination of blockchain and IoT. It elaborates applications of IoT as well as the use of blockchain technologies by the IoT systems to enhance its privacy and security. In addition, the chapter also discusses the hash value of the blockchain technology and how its transactions are protected by using cryptographic public keys.
