LOAD MANAGEMENT AND FAULT TOLERANCE OF VIRTUAL MACHINE’S IN CLOUD USING CHECK POINTING

Load management in a cloud data centre is managed by different factors like load management policies, VM (virtual machine) migration heuristics and host selection heuristics. Energy awareness protocol also follows migration threshold and activation threshold. A host node in a data centre which contains ‘N’ number of VM’s may face failures like 1) Single VM failure 2) Multiple VM failure. The Fault Tolerance mechanism resumes VM resource operation during failures and migrates to another VM in a host node. This work proposes effective load balancing algorithm by considering VM migration techniques. Node failure is recovered by maintaining log files which stores the recent process state of the VMs in a failed node. Checkpointing and Logging enables easy recovery of failed nodes which in turn reduces latency, migration downtime, and process completion time and improves efficiency.
