Proposed Framework for Link Layer Attack Detection System in Wireless Network

May Aye Chan Aung, Khin Phyo Thant · 2017

Nowadays, Wireless Local Area Network(WLAN) is widely used because of mobility and easeof placement. The rapid growth in the use of wirelessnetworks attracts the attackers as a target. Link layeris the weakness link among OSI model because ofunprotected management frames. Wireless link layeris not covered by the current standard for WLANnetworks leading to many potential attacks. Aframework that can able to detect link layer attacksin wireless network is proposed. The aim of thisproposed framework is to implement a wirelessnetwork security system which can detect link layerattacks and to understand the patterns of this attacks. The proposed Detection Link Layer Algorithm(DLLA) will detect wi-fi deauthentication attack byusing both active and passive fingerprinting methodsand implement with the Network Simulator 2 (NS2)tool. This proposed framework will be set-up anddeploy in Kali Linux with Python networkprogramming.
