Generalized Entropy and Its Physical Meaning

Because of the good performance of handling uncertainty, Dempster-Shafer evidence theory has been widely used. In Dempster-Shafer evidence theory, [proposed] entropy [by the authors previously] has been applied in many fields due to its efficiency of measuring uncertainty. However, the physical meaning of [the proposed] entropy is still not clear, which limits its further application. Besides, the sensitivity of [the proposed] entropy can still be improved under certain circumstances. Thus, in this paper, a generalization of [the proposed] entropy named as generalized entropy is proposed. When the weighting parameter equals to zero, generalized entropy degenerates into entropy [proposed earlier]. Moreover, the physical meaning of generalized entropy is presented. Numerical examples are expounded to show the properties and the efficiency of generalized entropy.
