Abstract — The development and maintenance of user interfaces, especially adaptable interfaces, is too complex. Modelbased approaches are promising but not as successful as was expected. We thus propose to encapsulate interface models with software agents and to rely on eco-resolution, a distributed problem-solving algorithm, to reach the objectives of the interface designer or users. This will lead to the development of a proactive tool to actively assist the designer to build interface models. I.
