Rule-based Expert System for Chinese Patent Law

With the increasing importance of intellectual property in the information age, patent application in China has attracted more and more attention. In this paper, we discuss the development of a rule-based expert system for Chinese patent law by adopting an expert system development software Oracle Policy Automation. The development process is introduced in detail, and the expert system is analyzed. The system covers a great many of the concerns of target users, English speakers filing patents in China. After the development, the system is tested and and suggestions for further improving the patent expert system are put forward.
