Weakly Periodic Semigroups

In this chapter, the authors consider an important class of semigroups defined through a relatively weak finiteness condition. Periodic semigroups form another important subclass of the class of weakly periodic semigroups. They will also be concerned with some auxiliary intermediate classes of semigroups. Now, it is easy to see that they have the following "inclusion graph" on the classes of semigroups with the finiteness conditions considered. The weak periodicity was introduced by Hotzel in for an investigation of the a.c.c. conditions on one-sided congruences of semigroups and of their connections with some other finiteness conditions.
