Date of composition . There is no evidence for a firm date, but it is likely that the poem was written in Mar. or Apr. 1893. Speculatively, it could be thought that this poem’s links with work by KT are triggered partly by WBY’s last visit to her home in Ireland on 30 Apr., before she departed to be married. (The poem may perhaps be an attempt to approach a common mode of KT’s poetry in general, as a kind of compliment.)
