Effective congestion control in MANET is a daunting task due to the complex nature of the topology and heterogeneity of nodes being communicated and having the capacity to process. This paper presents the updated approach in Adhoc On-Demand Multipath Distance Vector Routing in MANET for congestion management. In the suggested solution, source selects a better neighbor node from several neighbors that have enough queue size to participate in the routing process. In addition to efficient monitoring of congestion, the congested node initiates warning message to the source of the route reply queue. Compared with the current research, the proposed solution offers better quality of service (QoS). NS2.35 is used to simulate modified protocol and simulation results shows the effectiveness of the protocol in throughput, packet delivery ratio, packet dropping and overhead.
