Multiresolution M-ary differential chaos shift keying (MR-M-DCSK) modulation not only inherits low-power and low-complexity advantages of the conventional DCSK system, but also enables different quality-of-service transmissions via exploiting non-uniformly spaced phase constellations. This paper investigates two relaying transmission strategies, i.e., conventional scheme and improved scheme, for a multi-relay MR-M-DCSK system over multipath Rayleigh fading channels, where a decode-and-forward protocol is adopted at the relay. For the conventional scheme, each relay remodulates the successfully decoded information to the destination via the MRM-DCSK constellation initially used at the source. However, in the improved scheme, each relay exploits a new MR-M-DCSK constellation to forward the successfully decoded information to the destination, where a new constellation is obtained by performing exchange operation for the constellation used at the source. Simulation results demonstrated that the improved scheme can achieve better bit-error-rate performance compared with the conventional scheme and the MR-M-DCSK system.
