Function Virtualization in High Performance Computing: Opportunities and Challenges

High performance computing is one key improvement in China, the utilization of HPC are extended to many areas. The case in aerospace simulation and modeling is one major use in recent days. In this paper, we discuss the development of HPC and the possible functional virtualization in future development of HPC, we summarize the advantages and weakness of virtualization in HPC, the cost efficiency, resource management and robustness are the key advantages, on the contrary, the support of software environment, the maturity, and the compatibility are still uncertain and pending to be solved.
