Graphs and Charts
Cornelis Van De Panne · 2020
This chapter introduces the construction of graphs or charts with Excel. After some remarks about the importance of graphical representation, the various types of charts are discussed with as example the Gross Domestic Product per capita of a number of economic units. The chapter examines the most important types of charts and their features, but the Chart Wizard provides fast access to charts of all types. The process of generating a graph, which Excel calls a chart, can be very automatic. The chart has tiny square handles, which means that it is selected, so that these handles may be used to change its size. Pie charts express each numerical entry in the data as a percentage of the total and draw a pie-shape figure with pieces reflecting the percentages. After selection of the data and activation of the Chart Wizard, the option of the pie chart is chosen.
