Generic program preparation & continuous process improvement
Jeffrey O. Grady · 2020
Nature applies the powerful engine of environmental adaptation and survival of the best prepared in a chaotic fashion leading to improvements in the survivors. This process takes a relatively long time and those in business do not have the time or money to wait around for the death of ill-prepared competitors. This chapter outlines a general plan for maintaining readiness to respond to customer’s needs and providing company with an environment for continuously improving performance while reducing cost. Functional management should be called upon by programs to participate in design and process reviews as a means of gaining insight into program execution such that all of the information needed to decode lessons learned data is accessible to functional management. Each functional department should have a metrics list and a means for capturing the data corresponding to these metrics from each program.
