The response to the copyright sessions at IALL '93 indicates that copyright issues cause concern for many people. For those who missed or would like to review Gary Becker's excellent half-day workshop entitled "Copyright and Multimedia", this article summarizes parts of his session (with his generous permission).A continuation, covering such areas as off-air video recording, the use of copyrighted videotapes in the classroom, and computer software, will appear in a future IALL Journal.Special thanks to those who helped me prepare this column.Mr. Becker is a nationally recognized expert, published author, consultant, and video producer in the field of copyright law and its impact on the educational community. In addition to his copyright work, he holds a full-time position as Director of Media Services for the Seminole County Public Schools in Sanford, FL.As an educator, he clearly understands the need for Vol.26, No. 3, Fall 1993
