Abstract The investigation and development of information on timber stands, their composition, treatment, growth, and reaction to cutting is as important to the work of the timber manager as to the researcher. This paper discusses the objectives of timber management control and the techniques used, including a punch card system, which enable the timber manager to bring these objectives within his reach.
