Conceiving of Resilient Railway Systems

Mihai F. Enache, Dahlia Al-Janabi, Tiberiu Stefan Letia · 2020

The railway systems are based on large, complex and highly developed cyber physical systems (CPS) that require powerful modeling capabilities. The current approach of railway resilience is based on newly introduced Object Enhanced Real-Time Petri Net (OER- TPN) models that include tokens with temporal information. Classes of high impact disturbances including changes of infrastructure and variations of train temporal parameters determine significant modifications of railway traffic behaviors. OER-TPN models can be used to formally describe, conceive and measure the traffic resilience when the classes of disturbances occur.1
