In multiple path networks, the routing protocols are used to find the low-cost shortest path and the protocols which give its best measurements are selected for network execution. The IP addresses play a vital role in the working of the internet but IPv4 addressing space are exhausting due to its extensive use for different applications, therefore it is required to implement the effective change towards IPv6. To guarantee the system continuation smoothly, the existing traditional IPv4 routing protocols are replaced with new IPv6 routing protocols. This decision of choosing an appropriate routing protocols in a network is one of the important factors that decide the performance of the network. Their decision is based on susceptible measurements like traffic demand, scalability and robustness. In order to accomplish this, the network is built in this paper and simulated to calculate the performance of OSPF and OSPFv3 routing protocols for IPv4 and IPv6. The response time for three applications-DB Query, Email and FTP Download on OSPF are calculated and compared for IPv4 and IPv6 network scenarios. The different performance parameters like traffic dropped between sender and receiver, number of hops required from source to destination, background traffic delay and ethernet delay are also calculated and compared for OSPF and OSPFv3. To compare and simulate the results Riverbed modeler academic edition 17.5 is used.
