Execution, Monitoring and Control – Novice

Lisa Anne Bove, Susan M. Houston · Productivity Press eBooks · 2020

The Monitoring and Control phase is simultaneous with the Execution phase and includes the main work of the project manager (PM) during these phases. The purpose of the PM&s;s work during the monitor and control phase is to make sure the work gets done on time, on budget and to scope. By monitoring and controlling the project, the PM increases the likelihood that it will be completed on time, within budget and to the stakeholder&s;s satisfaction. The kickoff meeting should begin with an introduction of all of the key team members and stakeholders. During the kickoff meeting, some stakeholders may be hearing about the project risks for the first time. Risks are a normal part of any project, but not all stakeholders will know this. Throughout the Execution phase, the PM monitors the project work against requirements and the project management plan.
