Raven Roosting Optimization Algorithm

This chapter discusses the social roosting and foraging behavior of the common raven is the inspiration behind the development of the raven roosting optimization (RRO) algorithm. Nature-inspired optimization algorithms have been developed from the behavioral study of swarms of animals, birds, and insects and the biological evolution process, in general. The roosting and foraging behavior of the common ravens has been a great source of inspiration for researchers of nature-inspired optimization algorithms. Metaheuristic optimization algorithms provide solutions to complex problems in finite time. The premature convergence problem in RRO has been overcome in the improved RRO algorithm. The improved raven roosting optimization algorithm algorithm improves the global exploration capability of the RRO algorithm, by introducing the food parameter and the concept of weak ravens that takes care of the exploitation capabilities. A raven roost is located randomly in the search space, and it remains there for the entire run of the algorithm.
