Flux compactifications in string theory and phenomenological applications
Ángel M. Uranga · 2004
We describe string theory compactifications with non-trivial background of field strength fluxes for diverse p-form fields. The flux background leads to the sta-bilization of large number of moduli in the model. We describe the embedding of chiral gauge sectors similar to the Standard Model in D-branes in these con-structions, and propose phenomenological applications of fluxes. In particular, the generation of hierarchies via strongly warped geometries, and the breaking of supersymmetry in MSSM-like gauge sectors due to non-supersymmetric flux backgrounds. 1.
