Objective To study the application effect of whole-course care under the guidance of the collaborative theory for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and type Ⅱ respiratory failure treated with non-invasive ventilation. Methods 53 cases of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and type Ⅱ respiratory failure treated with non-invasive ventilation before the implementation of the whole-course care under the guidance the collaborative theory (from January to April 2015) and another 53 cases of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and type Ⅱ respiratory failure treated with non-invasive ventilation after the implementation of the whole-course care under the guidance the collaborative theory (from May to August 2015) were selected as the research objects and were divided into the control group and the experimental group respectively. The control group received routine nursing intervention mode, while the experimental group received the whole-course care under the guidance of the collaborative theory. The indicators of the two groups after intervention were compared. Results After the intervention, the score of comfort degree and the compliance of the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group, while the incidence of complications was significantly lower than that of the control group, the respiratory rate, heart rate and length of hospital stay was significantly lower than that of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05). Conclusions The application of whole-course care under the guidance of the collaborative theory for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and type Ⅱ respiratory failure treated with non-invasive ventilation can help to improve the comfort degree and compliance of treatment, reduce the incidence of complications, and improve the effectiveness of clinical nursing. Key words: Collaborative theory; Comprehensive care; Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; Respiratory failure; Non-invasive ventilation
