Deterministic Schemes of Copyset Replication

In distributed systems, the stored data are replicated in multiple nodes to prevent data loss. Copyset replication (CR) is a replication placement strategy providing a trade-0ff between the scatter width and the probability of data loss. However, CR is not deterministic. Therefore, it is difficult to predict the time required and end condition. In this paper, we present two deterministic schemes to find out the placement strategy in linear time, when the parameters are within the given range. In particular, the second scheme can generate the optimal placement strategy that cannot be generated by CR. Further, the optimality of the second scheme is also proved. In general, this paper has improved CR and proposed a better scheme.
