Processing Relative Clauses in a Second Language

Alan Juffs, Guillermo A. Rodríguez · 2014

In chapters 3 and 4, we have seen that a consensus exists that second language processing is guided by the argument structure of predicates and that compared to native speakers of a language, processing with a second language may use structural principles. However, the use of such principles may be delayed until learners are very advanced. This chapter will address the issue of how second language learners process relative clauses in their second language.
