Objective investigate the effect of intensive rehabilitation training under remote electrocardiogram (ECG) and blood pressure (BP) monitoring for patients with spinal cord injury. Methods Sixty patients, who stayed in our hospital between January 2015 and December 2016 due to spinal trauma or spinal surgery, were included in the study and randomly divided into the study group and control group (n=30 each) . On the basis of comprehensive rehabilitation therapy, intensive exercise training under remote ECG and BP monitoring was used in the study group, and the conventional training was used in the control group. At 6 weeks after the treatment, the training completion status, total effective rate of the treatment, the functional independence measure (FIM) and American Spinal Injury Association (ASIA) neurological function scores in the two groups were recorded, respectively. Results There was no significant difference in the baseline data between the two groups (P>0.05) . The non-completion rate of standing and exercise training in the study group was significantly lower than that in the control group [10.34% (412/3986) vs 18.32% (425/2320) ]. The incidence of severe adverse reactions in the study group was low. The ineffective rate in the control group was significantly higher than that in the study group[43.44% (13/30) vs. 16.67% (5/30) ]. The total effective rate of the treatment in the study group was better than that in the control group (P=0.044) . The changes of the ASIA motor score, ASIA pin prick score, ASIA light touch score, FIM score in the study group were greater than those in the control group (P<0.05) . The spinal function improvement in the study group was better than that in the control group. Conclusion The intensive rehabilitation training under remote ECG and BP monitoring for patients with spinal cord injury can significantly improve the efficiency of exercise training, given ensured safety. It favors the improvement of total treatment effect, spinal cord function and quality of life for patients. Key words: Spinal cord injury; Monitoring, portable; Exercise therapy
