Hybrid Three-Dimensional Thermal Aware Design Methodologies For Multiprocessor Systems

Design of high performance three-dimensional multi-core systems imposes several challenges to maintain thermal uniformity within the chip due to development of hotspots. We propose a hybrid thermal management technique, which combines the advantages of proactive and reactive thermal management schemes. Thermal Aware Hybrid Routing uses variable throttling levels in addition to multi-objective thermal aware adaptive routing to check the efficiency of the 3D multi-core chip. In comparison to the existing methods, hybrid thermal aware routing approach proposed in this paper provides better thermal optimization.
