Collecting and analyzing SDOH data

Collecting SDOH data for evaluation can be a challenge. This chapter begins with an overview of data types and when they are used in SDOH evaluations. Because social and environmental components are central to SDOH focused evaluation, this chapter highlights 12 different dimensions for consideration. Several examples are presented that describe how data can be used in SDOH evaluation. This chapter summarizes how to analyze qualitative and quantitative data and potential uses in SDOH. Because SDOH vary by context and country this chapter also includes non-US considerations. This chapter ends with considerations for evaluators, potential solutions, and ideas for addressing social inequalities, health, and social justice.
