OpenStack is a cloud computing platform, where controller node interacts with other compute nodes to create or delete virtual server instances. After the instance creation, the controller node and various compute nodes communicate with each other to know the status of various compute nodes and the associated server instances. There can be a situation when the number of compute nodes are more and the controller node is not capable to process all the messages from the compute nodes, which can cause large system delay at controller node. In this work we analytically find the system delay of controller node in the presence of one or more compute nodes. We show that proper selection of controller with optimum serviceratecanbe really useful to decrease the system delay performance.
