QoS Management and Traffic Engineering for Virtual SDN Services
Sakir Yucel · 2019
Software Defined Networking (SDN) offers ample possibilities for QoS management and traffic engineering (TE) of the virtual services. Logically centralized modern infrastructures calculate QoS and TE configurations for virtual SDN services by incorporating any type of input deemed relevant to the calculations flexibly. Calculated configurations are programmed to virtualized SDN network elements by the SDN controllers allowing the network providers to offer many different service characteristics for the virtual SDN services. To empower network providers with rich set of service management possibilities of SDN, we devise a service management architecture supported by an intelligence framework for predictive service management of virtual services spanning over SDNs and clouds. We detail the characteristics of QoS management and TE components of this architecture.
