Enhancing Spectral Efficiency of Mobile Communication by Store Forward Base Transceiver System

Bablu Kumar Singh, Rajesh Bhadada · 2020

Mobile communication is expanding rapidly day by day attributed to its adoption by commercial, consumer, medical, public safety, industrial and military applications. Concurrent uses by these applications puts strain on the availability of radio spectrum, i.e. need more spectrum which results in overload on the current Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) spectrum allocation. In current spectrum allocation scheme, very few channel's spectrum is fully utilized while many other channels remains underutilized. This paper proposes a modified design strategy for transreceiver system to enhance utilization of channels by use of Store Forward plan at Base Transceiver System (BTS) in GSM by treating secondary user to use the existing BTS channels seamlessly as primary users do in an existing GSM network for voice call application. The simulated result of the proposed channel model of Store Forward Base Transceiver System (SFBTS) is compared with Okumura and COST231 model. The result of proposed channel model shows better path loss performance maintaining Quality of Service of the GSM network.
