Analyzing the Relationship between Media Usage and Immersive Tendency

Many studies have applied immersion tendency to divide users and predict their immersion before experiments. The immersion tendency questionnaire (ITQ) has been widely adopted in the measurement and classification of subjects. This study found that the results of dimension division were not consistent with the original ITQ (18 items) dimension division through factor analysis. Moreover, the present study showed that the media forms involved in items had certain influence on the division of dimensions through the analysis of the content of items. Further canonical correlation analysis proved that media usage was highly correlated with the immersion tendency measured by ITQ. These results suggested that the influence of media usage should be taken into account when revising or supplementing ITQ in future studies.
