A Wireless Adhoc Network is a progressive self-organized, self-configured, multi-hop scalable network which is having the ability to communicate with each other without the help of any infrastructure. They will provide many diverse applications like military, networking, transport system, health and medical system, building automation, security survillence system etc. Due to the distributed and dynamic topological behaviour they are prone to serious security attacks, such as Denial of Service (DoS) attacks. The special case of DoS attack is the selective forwarding attack that is a misbehaving node drops the data packets selectively and prevents it from reaching the destination. Thus a survey on detection algorithms have been proposed for the selective forwarding attack there by discussing its dominance, research issues and challenges.
