A Sleeping Substrate Network Approach for Wireless Virtual Network Embedding

Shengmei Liu, Shiwen Liang · 2019

Network virtualization can improve network resource utilization by dynamically allocating substrate network resources to virtual networks. Traditionally, virtualization process provides the entire substrate network resources to the virtual network. However, if the substrate network load is too light, the energy consumption on it is not reasonable. In this paper, we propose a wireless virtual network embedding based on sleeping substrate network approach. This approach sleeps or activates part of substrate network according to the load to adjust resource usage and save network energy consumption. The simulation verifies that the sleeping approach can save the substrate network energy consumption while ensuring the same acceptance ratio.
