Fault Attack against Lightweight Block Cipher Based on Cube Analysis

Changyang Huang, Tao Wang, Xiaohan Wang · 2018

This paper analyzed the principle of how the lightweight block cipher designed and selected the SIMECK 32/64 algorithm to evaluate its security by the method of algebraic fault attack. Firstly, given the situation that the fault injected might occur failure when spreading along with encryption, and analysis the causes that why the fault failed. Then run the cube test on the state which was injected by the single-bit fault base on the method of cube analysis, which is order to construct the differential characteristics table of ciphertext to determine the location of fault injected. The results show that the success rate of determining the location of fault injected can all reach 100% when the depth of injection fd<; 4 if the single-bit fault injected into the right register, and the rate could still reach 94.4% when the fd increased to 5.
