A Dependence of Water Content on Flow Characteristic of Clay Dispersing Colloidal gel

Yasunori Sato, Tsutomu TAKAHASHI, Akio Nasu · The Proceedings of Mechanical Engineering Congress Japan · 2019

The relationship between the flow characteristic and the water content in the clay dispersing colloidal gels, which is used widely in cosmetics filed, is investigated experimentally by some kind of rheological and optical measurements. The sample without the water does not have any yielding behavior, but the samples including the water make a flow-induced elastic structure and show two-step yielding. It is found that adding water to the clay dispersing colloidal gels contributes to making a strong structure which shows yield stress and the cross-linked structure is dominant in the structure added the water.
