Vehicle Detection and Tracking with Enhanced Anti-Perspective Transformation

Yang Liu, Hailiang Li, Zhibin Lei, Edmond M.Y. Chiu, Kangheng Wu · 2019 IEEE 2nd International Conference on Automation, Electronics and Electrical Engineering (AUTEEE) · 2019

This paper presents a vehicle detection and tracking method to tackle the challenge brought by object distortion in perspective images. The aspect of the method is to normalize the shape and size of a vehicle wherever it is in the camera view, and to transform the camera image into an enhanced anti-perspective domain to achieve real time detection with robust tracking performance. Furthermore, with the presented method, several applications can be benefited such as vehicle recognition and car plates identification.
