Joint Polarization and Space Domain Adaptive Beamforming for Dual Polarized Conformal Array

Chao Liu, Zhengfei Fang, Xiang Shuai · 2019

Traditional space beamforming method cannot suppress interference with arbitrary polarization state for polarization sensitive array. This paper proposes a joint polarization and space domain adaptive beamforming algorithm based on dual polarized conformal array. By introducing the polarization information of the signal into the steering vector, the conventional space steering vector is extended to polarization and space domain. Both the co-polarized and cross-polarized components are used so that the adaptive beamforming method is extended to the polarization and space domain, and it can receive desired signal and suppress the interferences with arbitrary polarization and space parameters. The performance is further improved by reconstructing the interference covariance matrix in the polarization-space domain and combining with the subspace projection method. Simulation results demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed algorithm.
