A Model for Latency-Optimal Placement of Virtualized Network Functions over Hierarchical Datacenters
Chih-Chiang Wang · 2019
Network function virtualization (NFV) technologies allow telecommunication service providers to bring down the capital and operational expenditures. This is done by re-architecting their central offices as NFV datacenters and dynamically allocating datacenter resources to running virtualized network functions (VNFs) upon demand. However, it is still an open question how TSPs shall plan an optimal VNF deployment over NFV datacenters with respect to different objective and constraints. To explore the above issue, this work presents a trackable model that can be used to compute the latency-optimal placement of VNFs over hierarchical datacenter.
