In this paper, we focus on the detection in the cooperative multiple-input-multiple-output systems with decode-and-forward relaying. To avoid the computational difficulty in the exhaustive search of the statistically optimal maximum likelihood detection, we develop the max-maximum likelihood detection (max-MLD) scheme for the one-way relaying network, which is based on the max-log approximation. The solution to the max-MLD is found with the use of the branch-and-bound algorithm. Then, the performance of the max-MLD is evaluated in terms of the symbol error rate. The simulation results demonstrate the superiority of the proposed detection scheme in comparison with other schemes.
