DEVICES - A 40-year-old nonvolatile memory technology is being resurrected for use in low-power portable devices. Once perfected, its many advantages should qualify it to replace the flash memories now often used when information needs to be retained while power is off. It is compatible with state-of-the-art logic CMOS processes and thus is a strong candidate for embedded memory applications as well.
